Pathway Vet Alliance reaches milestone 200+ locations, announces the addition of two new company leaders to executive team

Pathway Vet Alliance, a leading national veterinary management group, announced on Thursday the company is now serving pets and their parents in over 200 locations across the U.S and has bolstered its leadership team with the appointment of a new Chief Operating Officer and Chief People Officer.

Odis PirtleAndrea Clayton

Founded in 2003 as a single veterinary practice, Pathway has grown both organically and through acquisition, expanding the company’s best-in-class veterinary care model to patients in 35 states.

Since 2017, Pathway has led the industry in growth by adding over 175 hospitals to its national network and more than 4,500 employees.

Pathway has continued to lead the veterinary industry in growth due to the company’s unparalleled benefit offerings for onboarding veterinary practices. Veterinary practices joining Pathway’s network retain their original team of veterinary professionals while benefitting from additional support, education opportunities, resources and supply purchasing discounts. Through Pathway, practice owners are able to offload business management responsibilities onto the company’s dedicated support team, which allows them to focus on providing the best possible care to their patients.

“Reaching our 200th location is a major step forward for Pathway, however we are continuing to keep our sight set on the future. We remain focused on expanding into new markets and with the addition of new leadership only expect to be able to hasten our pace, while also refocusing on investing in our existing ecosystem,” said Stephen Hadley, DVM, MS and CEO of Pathway Vet Alliance. “Our unique approach to practice management and cultivation of passionate experts within the veterinary industry has been a key differentiator in our success compared to other groups in the veterinary space.”

In addition to Pathway reaching its milestone 200th location, the company has appointed Odis Pirtle as the company’s new Chief Operating Officer and Andrea Clayton to the position of Chief People Officer.

As COO, Pirtle will lead all practice support and business operations for Pathway’s growing national veterinary hospital network, while also overseeing management of the company’s marketing and information technology teams.

Clayton will lead Pathway’s human resources team, including people operations, recruitment, and organizational development, with an emphasis on further enhancing the company’s people-focused culture and recruitment of top veterinary industry talent.

Pirtle has served as the CEO for THRIVE Affordable Vet Care since 2016, playing an instrumental role in growing the company to over 50 locations nationwide. He will continue to provide support as the CEO of THRIVE, with current COO, Kirk Pozadzides, taking charge of day-to-day operations. Pirtle previously honed his operations experience in the veterinary industry at Zoetis and Pfizer Animal Health.

“I am honored to take on this role and look forward to partnering with Pathway’s talented senior leadership team to accelerate organizational structure changes that put our hospital teams at the center of all that we do and deliver on our vision for the veterinary industry,” said Pirtle. “A key focus of this position will be further streamlining and supporting Pathway’s operational infrastructure to ensure sustainable future growth.”

Clayton has a rich history of HR leadership in high-growth companies and is well equipped to further enhance Pathway’s unique approach to attracting top-talent and facilitating professionals seeking to practice their passions.

Most recently, Clayton served as the Chief Human Resources Officer for Austin Regional Clinic and had prior HR leadership roles with Vista Equity Partners, LDR Holding, GE and Genworth Financial.

“In a short time, Pathway has become a leader in the veterinary industry, not only due to its excellence in veterinary care, but also for the company’s total commitment to transforming talent and building strong cultures that allow our people to thrive as they live their passion every day,” said Clayton. “I could not be more delighted to have joined Pathway at this exact time given both the incredible momentum of the company and the ability to positively impact our team members.”

Both Pirtle and Clayton officially began their new leadership positions at Pathway on May 30th.
